Rob van Veen | Experience Overview
An engineer by training (Delft University in The Netherlands), I worked for the first 10 years of my career in engineering, project managing oil and gas, and large infrastructure projects, mainly in Southeast Asia.
In 2002 I moved to London, where I initially worked as a Technical Advisor with Currie & Brown, in risk modelling and insurance valuations. Currie & Brown sent me on a training course in financial modelling at Operis (named-ranges modelling) and I was hooked, and became a financial modeller.
I joined Operis, and worked there for about 5 years, from there I moved to Mazars (FAST modelling) where I worked for nearly 10 years. During those years Mazars bought Corality and switched to SMART modelling.
Following that I worked for more than 5 years at a renewable energy developer IX Renewables in Japan, where I built financial models for renewable energy projects (floating offshore wind).
Mid 2025 I moved back to London and started a new role as Associate Director with BDO in the Financial Modelling team.
